What is your main extracurricular activity--why is it important to you?

Air Force ROTC is my main extracurricular activity and is important to me because I have spent all four years of college participating and leading in it. I come from a military family so it was super important for me to carry on this tradition even while pursuing my undergraduate degree, and the amount of time, energy and pride I've dedicated to it, not to mention the unique training value I've gained from it, are a huge part of who I am today.

How have you changed since you first arrived at Cornell? What have you discovered about yourself?

I think I've become a much more confident person since arriving at Cornell. Broadening my point of view on many aspects of not only the academic but also "adult" world has made me realize that I am capable of more than I think I am, and that as long as I give it a try, anything is possible.

If you were to offer advice to an incoming first year student, what would you say?

I would say to an incoming student that time goes by fast and you'll regret going outside of your comfort zone and experiencing initial unpleasantness far less than not trying something new at all and later wishing you had at least tried.

What are your plans for next year; where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I am commissioning as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force this May and look forward to my initial training as an intelligence officer. In 10 years, I see myself as perhaps transitioning into a USAF foreign area officer with a focus in the Asia-Pacific region.
