The Department of Asian Studies does not allow auditing of its language courses, neither official “audit” enrollment or unofficial visitor attendance. We do welcome occasional guests to our classes on a one-time basis (such as, for example, prospective students and their parents). No auditing of language courses is a long-standing policy of the Department, and applies to all students, from all Colleges and programs, graduate and extramural students included. Enrollment in language courses must be for a letter grade: auditing and the S/U option are not permitted.
University policy states that undergraduate and professional students cannot audit any classes. Cornell University's policy on auditing can be found in the Courses of Study Catalog.
