The Department of Asian Studies at Cornell University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Korean language beginning July 1, 2019. Initial one-year probationary contract with possibility of multi-year renewals, contingent upon merit, the continued needs of the department, and availability of program funding.
Minimum qualifications: a Master's degree and native speaker-level competency in Korean are required, as is prior teaching experience and the ability to teach all levels of Korean at the college level in the U.S. Also required are an explicit understanding of the linguistic properties of Korean; knowledge of the cultural background necessary to teach the language; familiarity with language-teaching methodologies, including technology-related pedagogy and flexibility in using different teaching methodologies; excellent English skills; and the ability to work both in a team and autonomously at all levels of the language.
